Position Description
Contributes to the University's and TTU K-12's mission through teaching and service. Provides instruction, appropriate assistance, information and tutoring. Performs instructional and educational work while serving as an online teacher. Provides feedback and grades for lessons, exams and final course grades. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators.

Major/Essential Functions
At TTU K-12, all of our Teachers must be Texas Certified.
  • Serve as the primary instructor for online GT K-12 courses or others as assigned. This will include assessment of student learning, evaluating student homework assignments, providing regular feedback to students.
  • Communicate with students regularly including using online discussion boards, chat features, synchronous collaboration tools, email communications, and phone chat. Teachers will be required to respond to student questions within 48 hours.
  • Regular communication with full-time/lead teachers and/or principals regarding grade turnaround, student performance, curricular alignment, students of concern, and other instructional issues that need to be discussed.
Program Development and Implementation:
  • Design, plan, and implement a comprehensive Gifted and Talented program that meets district, state, and national guidelines.
  • Create curriculum resources and enrichment opportunities for GT students.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the GT program through data analysis and make necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate with other educators to integrate differentiated instruction and resources for GT students.
Student Identification and Assessment:
  • Develop and manage the process for identifying gifted and talented students.
  • Oversee testing, screening, and referrals for GT placement.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on student identification and progress.
Parent and Community Involvement:
  • Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and the opportunities available within the GT program.
  • Organize workshops and informational meetings for parents on supporting gifted learners.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and the broader community regarding GT programs.
Qualified applicants for this position will be subject to a pre-employment Texas Tech University background check, and in addition, a Texas Education Agency criminal background check and fingerprinting as required by the Texas Legislature for independent school districts.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, State of Texas Teacher Certification in area of expertise and three (3) years teaching experience in a public or private school setting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Texas curricular requirements for K-12 education.
  • Texas Teacher Certification.
  • 3 years classroom experience.
  • Experience with online instruction.
